Introducing

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in surgical and conservative management of all types of traumatic injuries, particularly of the arms, legs, hands and feet. I have a holistic approach to trauma injuries and make a decision between surgical or conservative management based on the patients’ individual needs. I have performed thousands of trauma operations with excellent outcomes. I also teach and supervise trainee surgeons in the performance of many more. I will follow up patients from the point of injury till complete healing if possible.

Experience

I qualified from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary in 2002 and completed my orthopaedic specialist training there in 2010. I then undertook two nationally well-ackowledged fellowships in Hungary in trauma surgery at the National Institute for Traumatology and the National Institute for Accident and Emergency, where I further excelled my skills in treating a huge variety of traumatic injuries.

After moving to England, I became a consultant at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (Watford General and St Alban's City Hospitals) in 2012 and I have been the lead for the trauma service since 2015.

I am an expert in the assessment and treatment (including both operative and conservative) of all types of traumatic injuries, ranging from acute soft tissue injuries and complex fractures to chronically non-united or malunited fractures. This includes both upper and lower limb conditions.

Honesty

I believe that honesty and patient-doctor relationship is very important for all health problems including traumatic injuries. Clear, open, and honest communication is crucial to get to the best outcome. Why would we waste time with poor communication? In most of the cases outcomes following a traumatic injury are good, but I will be honest even if future problems or some functional loss is anticipated due to a complex injury. I only recommend any treatment or investigation if it is evidence based and I believe this can be helpful, so you can avoid unnecessary costs.

Reliability

You are not alone with your problem or injury. Currently, only limited options are available for trauma care in private settings, however you can rely on timely assessment and excellent management under my care.

Individualised management

A management plan can only work and be successful if it fits the individual patient needs. This can be different from patient to patient depending on the life circumstances, wider aspects of life. I am keen to explore and understand this additionally to the injury to offer the best pathway to healing and recovery.

Quality

My extensive experience can be reassurance that for any type of traumatic injury will offer the best individualised treatment option, surgical fixation with a goal of timely and complete recovery.

Services

Private trauma services
Diagnosis

Offering basic and advanced diagnostic imaging services for any type of injury. Open to review previous results, medical records. Will explain the diagnosis and management options in a clear way.

Second opinion

If you are not satisfied with a previous treatment or ongoing management, I am available to provide second opinion. Following this you can also decide if you wish to transfer your care.

Timely management of Daily injuries

Accidents are happening in our busy life. Ankle sprain, broken forearm or wrist, join pain - You may prefer a timely diagnosis and consultant led management in private settings instead of a significant wait in a local ED.

Rehabilitation

Physical exercise is essential to maintain our health. However, as a professional sportsman (in judo) I know injuries can be a significant barrier to this. Good rehabilitation and post care is essential for full recovery and healing, and I can help this phase with my knowledge too.

Selfpay

Private care via health insurance: I am a recognised provider for all 5 main insurance providers (PUPA, AVIVA, Aetna Global Benefits, AXA Health, VitalityHealth). I am open to accept patients with other insurance providers.

Feedback about my care

The patients’ recovery and healing is my main priority and pleased to share that this is reflected in the feedback from patients I looked after in the past.

Mr Deierl is the best trauma surgeon I have ever seen in my life and even better trainer! Committed to his patients’ wellbeing and at the same time a very much kind hearted person for his juniors!

Senior Ortopedic Surgeon

Extremely happy with my surgery after breaking my elbow. He came to see me before surgery and explained everything and answered my questions. Fantastic care in our patients too. Delightful man

My 92 year old father had 2 screws placed in his right hip at Watford General last week. Mr Deierl was sympathetic, caring and an outstanding surgeon. I cannot praise or thank him enough.
